On Thursday the 8th of July, Fur Free joined members of PETA Asia in an educational event held on the islands in front of the Hyde Park shopping centre in Joburg. The event was held specifically during the FIFA soccer World Cup, to raise awareness of the horrors of the fur industry. Activists wore only knickers and were painted as the flags of the 32 World Cup nations to bring the message "Unite against cruelty:
say no to fur".
NEWS - On 8 July Fur Free joined representatives from PETA Asia in a vibrantly exciting anti-fur event featuring 32 near-naked activists painted like the flags of the countries participating in the FIFA World Cup. The media coverage was phenomenal and the message reached millions worldwide. On 17 July, Fur Free and other activists held a protest against the massacre of 86 000 Namibian seals now in progress. See 50/50 on Monday 2 August for coverage of both events!
